Employee spotlight: Vincent Hill, Facility Manager, A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods

Vincent Hill

As the Facility Manager at A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods, Vincent Hill and his team play a key role in keeping the building safe, functional, and comfortable for the up to 150 elders who stay there. Although he’s only been with A.G. Rhodes for a year, he previously worked just down the street for  nearly two decades at Budd Terrace nursing home.  For Vincent, resident satisfaction comes first.

“Anything the residents request—we put that at the top of the list,” he says.

He stays organized with a preventive-maintenance calendar that maps out tasks for the year, along with a work-order system and, as he puts it, “a notepad to write down everything anybody tells me so I can remember.”

Vincent’s early career plans were originally very different. He earned an associate’s degree in accounting but quickly realized he preferred building and fixing things. After a few months, he left accounting and went back to school to earn a construction engineering degree.

“I’m good with my hands,” he says. “I can’t stay sitting at a computer.”

Vincent worked in residential remodeling for 28 years but when the housing market took a turn and his work slowed, he shifted into commercial facility work where he began working in long-term care settings. The move stuck. What keeps him in this environment, he says, is the people.

“I enjoy building relationships with the elders,” he says. “They see you every day and they know what they can ask you for.”

He also appreciates the team he works with.

“It’s three of us that work together every day.”

To be successful in this line of work, he says, you have to stay ahead of problems.

“The key is to stay on top of it—not letting anything get too far behind—so it stays manageable without stressing.”

And he says patience is also essential, especially when working in a building where so many people live.

“They might ask you the same thing more than once. You can’t take that to heart. You just say, ‘okay,’ and do it.”

A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods Administrator Latasha Ward says Vincent’s people-focused approach makes a real difference.

“Vincent brings reliability, consistency, and a genuine care for our residents. He is always willing to help—whether it’s a major repair or a small request.”

Outside of work, Vincent enjoys bowling and cheering on the Falcons—he’s been a season ticket holder for about 30 years. He and his wife, who often travel to away games together, enjoy spending time with each other when he’s not at A.G. Rhodes keeping the building running smoothly.
