Employee spotlight: Fernando Dilone, Maintenance Supervisor, A.G. Rhodes Atlanta

Reliable, Responsive, Ready to Help, A.G. RhodesFor nearly two years, Fernando Dilone has served as the Maintenance Supervisor at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta, leading a small team that keeps the building running smoothly—often in ways most people never see.

With more than 130 residents calling A.G. Rhodes Atlanta home, there’s always something that needs attention. Fernando and his team stay busy moving from project to project, making sure the building continues to run safely and smoothly. And when the workload demands it, Fernando doesn’t hesitate to step in alongside his team.

“I check the work, make sure everything’s being done,” he says. “And many times I get my hands on the job myself.”

Before joining A.G. Rhodes, Fernando worked in maintenance across several settings—from apartments to large industrial warehouses. When the company he worked for shut down during COVID, a friend encouraged him to try working in a long-term care setting. He did—and he quickly realized it was a good fit.

“Ever since I tried it, I liked nursing facilities,” he says. “I like helping people out.”

One of the parts of the job he enjoys most is connecting with the elders who call A.G. Rhodes home.

“When they call my name, they already know me. They trust me,” Fernando says. “You build a friendship over time. And whenever you finish a job—even something simple—they’re the most grateful people.”

Though maintenance is often behind the scenes, Fernando wants people to know that his team is everywhere in the building, constantly ready to assist however they can.

“If we can help, we’ll help,” he says. “I’m not only talking about me—I’m talking about my team. They’re sharp.”

When asked what qualities are important in his line of work, Fernando’s answer comes easily: stay calm and keep looking for solutions.

“You can’t get stuck,” he says. “Even if you don’t find the answer right away, there’s always a solution. Sometimes you think something is unfixable, and then you find a way that’s easier than you expected.”

At home, you’ll find him—no surprise—fixing things there, too, along with spending time with his family.

“I stay home and fix stuff in the house,” he laughs. “It never ends.”

A.G. Rhodes Atlanta Administrator Loretta Barnes says Fernando’s steady approach makes a real difference.

“Fernando is one of those care partners you can count on. When something needs attention, he responds right away. He’s dedicated and dependable, and a great example of what it means to be solutions-oriented.”

Whether solving a tricky repair or simply answering a resident’s call, Fernando brings patience, skill and kindness to every job.
