Responsibilities and Duties
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides direct rehab care in physical therapy to elders upon physician referral and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with all laws, regulations and LCC standards. Reports to Rehab Services Manager or supervising Physical Therapist.
Specific Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Maintains a liaison with elders, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for elder needs.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be knowledgeable of rehab practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing rehab functions in the long-term care community.
- Must possess willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must have the ability to implement the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the rehab department.
Physical Therapist Assistant Qualifications include:
- Current Georgia Physical Therapist Assistant license
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to pick up shifts during week/weekend
- Prefer at least 2 years experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a LTC/Skilled Nursing Community
- Genuine passion for working with elders
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Effective leadership qualities
- Good documentation skills (computerized charting experience)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
