Employee Spotlight: Robin Ferrell, CNA, A.G. Rhodes Atlanta
As a young adult, Robin Ferrell wasn’t drawn to any particular career field. But then a fellow church member who was working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta encouraged her to consider becoming a CNA. Leaning on her strong faith and love for helping people, she gave it a shot.
“I said, ‘Ok, God, if this is where you want me to be, help me to hang in here and persevere.’ He told me, ‘This is what I want you to be. You got this; I got you.’”
Now, 30 years later, Robin is still at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta where she started her career as a CNA. For the last five years she has also served as a preceptor, training and mentoring CNAs who are new to the career field or who are new to A.G. Rhodes.
“I enjoy training people—showing them how A.G. Rhodes does things,” she said. “I stick with them, encourage them, and check in to make sure they’re doing okay.”
Robin also takes pride in easing the nerves of new staff.
“Sometimes new CNAs come in nervous, thinking the job will be too hard. But once I show them the proper way, they realize they can do it.”
A.G. Rhodes Administrator Loretta Barnes says Robin not only teaches CNAs the technical ropes, but she also demonstrates how to form the meaningful relationships with elders that are at the heart of quality care.
“Robin doesn’t just train staff on the tasks of being a CNA—she shows them how to connect with elders, build trust, and truly care for people.”
What drives Robin most is seeing elders reach milestones in their care, whether it’s regaining the ability to move an arm, stand again, or even return home after rehab.
“The best part of my job is seeing their smiling faces when they do something they thought they couldn’t do,” she said.
Robin’s work goes beyond physical care—she builds trust with elders and their families, offering reassurance and compassion.
“When elders tell me, ‘I trust you,’ that means everything to me,” she said. “Families can go home and sleep well at night knowing their loved ones are safe and cared for.”
Three decades later, Robin has no plans of slowing down.
“Right now, my main focus is helping elders reach the goals they want to achieve,” she said. “They need our love, our compassion, and our care. I love being there for them. That’s from my heart.”
