Employee Spotlight: Evanny Lopez, RN
Infection Preventionist Nurse, A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods

“I’m trying my best to ensure resident safety, as well as employee wellness.”

That’s how Evanny Lopez describes her work as an Infection Preventionist nurse at A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods—a job that often happens behind the scenes but plays a critical role in daily care.

Evanny monitors infection trends, educates staff, and helps implement protocols that reduce risk across the building. It’s detailed, consistent work, especially during peak seasons when outbreaks are more likely and quick response matters.

Dedicated to Safety and Care, A.G. Rhodes

“Evanny brings a strong sense of accountability to her role,” said Latasha Ward, administrator of A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods. “She takes her job seriously and understands how important it is to the well-being of our residents and staff. She is dependable, thoughtful in her approach, and committed to promoting a safe environment.”

Originally from Manila, Philippines, Evanny’s path to nursing wasn’t a straight line. While in the Philippines, she went to college and earned a degree in tourism and started working in the airline industry. Then she decided to make a career change.

“I have this passion to help others, and I was thinking I would be able to do that by becoming a nurse.”

Evanny became a nurse in the Philippines and later obtained her license to practice in the United States. She moved to Georgia in 2014 and spent 10 years in a neurobehavioral facility, where she also handled infection prevention responsibilities. She joined A.G. Rhodes two years ago, and today, in addition to overseeing infection control efforts, she manages the restorative program—helping residents continue exercises and maintain progress after therapy ends.

While much of her work happens behind the scenes, Evanny’s presence is felt throughout the building. Her office is located on a resident floor, and it’s common for residents to stop by to chat. She values those moments.

“They remind me of my grandma, and I treat them as my family here,” she said.

Over time, those conversations—hearing about residents’ lives, careers, and experiences—have become one of the most meaningful parts of her day.

“I look forward to coming here every day. I enjoy being with the elders, interacting with them, and with the employees, too.”

Outside of work, Evanny is passionate about travel and exploring the world. A nature lover at heart, she enjoys hiking, photography, cycling, and snorkeling, and hopes to try rappelling and skydiving in the future. She also has a strong interest in archaeology, painting, and immersing herself in different cultures.
