A Passion for People
Employee Spotlight: Sambrieanna Brown, Admissions Assistant, A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods

A Passion for People, A.G. RhodesSambrieanna Brown began her career in healthcare as soon as she finished high school.

“It’s always been rewarding to help people get the care that they need,” she said. “I’m very passionate about people.”

She spent more than 27 years in patient access services as a Supervisor for University of Miami Hematology /Oncology department, and when she relocated to Georgia in 2011, she started working at Atlanta Cancer Care where she continued her career until she entered the long-term care field. Prior to A.G. Rhodes, Sambrieanna worked at Budd Terrace Nursing Home as a Case Manager and then as an Admissions Director at Westbury Center of Conyers for Nursing and Healing. She’s only been at A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods for six months as the Admissions Assistant and has already made a big impact.

“Sambrieanna puts residents and their families immediately at ease when they enter our doors,” said A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods Administrator Latasha Ward. “Coming to a community like ours— whether it be for a short time or longer—can be stressful because it’s a big adjustment, but Sambrieanna welcomes people in a way that assures them that they will be well cared for.”

Sambrieanna says one of the first things she does when new residents join the community is to show them their room and help them get settled, and then visit them the next day and spend time getting to know them.

“I like sitting down with them and talking one-on-one. It gives me a great opportunity to engage with them on a personal level.”

Not only does this help her assess what new residents may need or want, but Sambrieanna says she enjoys hearing about their lives and experiences.

“They bring a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to share.”

Sambrieanna encourages people who call about getting care at A.G. Rhodes—and anyone looking for long-term care—to physically visit and tour the community they’re interested in.

“Often times you can see it virtually online, but I always encourage people to come in and feel the atmosphere of the facility, and get a sense of what the nursing staff is like. You must get that experience for yourself.”

Sambrieanna stated that residents and families should feel comfortable with communicating any questions or concerns they may have.

“Sometimes people don’t want to be perceived as if they’re complaining, but I encourage people to address an issue as soon as it comes up. It’s not always a complaint; it’s a concern, and oftentimes there’s a quick fix.”

Sambrieanna says she takes very seriously the important role that she and her colleagues have in caring for the aging population.

“People depend on us, and they depend on us 24/7. Sambrieanna expressed deeply that you must put forth a lot of self-dedication, and you must have a great deal of compassion and patience.”

The key to success, Sambrieanna says, is fairly simple: “I just do right by people wherever I go.”
